TSU Athletics To Host Welcome Reception For Houston Texans’ Lovie Smith Wednesday Evening

The Texas Southern University Department of Athletics will host a “Welcome To Houston” social event for new Houston Texans Associate Head Coach/Defensive Coordinator Lovie Smith on Wednesday, May 26 at 6 p.m. in the Tiger Room located inside the TSU Sterling Student Life Center (3rd floor).

Smith, a native Texan, is one of the top defensive minds in the NFL and a well-respected coach and mentor. He led the Chicago Bears to an appearance in the 2006 Super Bowl and also served as head coach for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers and the University of Illinois. Smith joined the Houston Texans in March as a member of new head coach David Culley’s staff.

The event continues to strengthen the partnership TSU Athletics established with the Texans’ players in July of 2020. The partnership consists of them attending TSU athletic events and providing mentorships to TSU student-athletes.
