TSU Athletics Mourns Loss Of Former Student-Athlete Thomas Foster

Former Texas Southern men’s basketball student-athlete Thomas Foster has passed away.

A 6-6 forward from New Orleans, La., Foster played at Texas Southern from 1991-94 under head coach Robert Moreland. He helped TSU win a pair of SWAC Regular Season Championships and the 1994 SWAC Tournament Championship.

Foster was also a part of the 1994 team which advanced to the first round of the NCAA Tournament  in Saint Petersburg, Fla. TSU squared off against Duke that season as it was the second NCAA Tournament appearance in TSU history.

“Thomas played an intricate role in the success of Texas Southern basketball during the 1990s,” said former teammate and TSU Vice President of Intercollegiate Athletics Kevin Granger. “Not only was he a great teammate but he was a great person, alumnus and father who’ll be deeply missed. The TSU basketball family extends its condolences to the Foster family.”
