Tigersfall 8-2 to Texas A&M–Corpus Christi in non-conference action

CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas – The Tigers of Texas Southern University fell in non-conference action by a score of 8-2 at Texas A&M–Corpus Christi.
 
The host Islanders jumped out to an 8-0 lead before TSU got on the scoreboard in the seventh and ninth innings. TSU fell to 12-29 for the season.
 
Tyson Thompson and Olajide Oloruntimilehin each knocked two base hits for the Tigers. Oloruntimilehin also scored twice in the game.
 
TSU’s Parker DeLeon had the lone RBI for the visitors, singling home Oloruntimilehin from second base in the top of the seventh inning. Oloruntimilehin had reached second via a stolen base.
 
Starting pitcher Alex Carrillo took the loss on the mound for the Tigers, giving up four runs in three and two-thirds innings. A.J. Winger pitched an inning and third of scoreless relief.
 
Texas A&M–Corpus Christi improved to 26-18 for the season.
 
The Tigers return to action Friday when they open a three-game series at home against Prairie View A&M. First pitch Friday is scheduled for 5 p.m.
