Tigers Seek 4th Straight Win Tonight At Arkansas-Pine Bluff

• Texas Southern closes out its two-game road swing at Arkansas-Pine Bluff Monday night in Pine Bluff, Ark.

• This marks the second year for TSU head coach Johnny Jones. Jones went 24-14 in his inaugural year as head coach with three Power 5 conference wins. TSU fell in the finals of the 2019 SWAC Tournament and competed in the CIT. TSU advanced to the semifinals of the CIT last season.

• The Tigers are on a three-game winning streak and in sole possession of second place. TSU is one game out of first place with five games remaining in the regular season. The Tigers are assured of a SWAC Tournament berth at worst but have higher aspirations to host a first round tourney game and win the regular season title.

• Head coach Johnny Jones is 76-71 all-time in the month of February and 11-2 at TSU.

• Jones is 2-1 lifetime against Arkansas-Pine Bluff.

• UAPB is ranked ninth in the SWAC and is under the direction of SWAC legend George Ivory. The Golden Lions are led by Markedric Bell’s 9.6 points per game while Marquell Carter is the top rebounder with 5.8 boards per game. Terrance Banyard ranks second in the SWAC with 1.1 blocks per game.

•  UAPB has won three of the past six games versus TSU thanks to its home court. UAPB is 6-6 against TSU in Pine Bluff since 2008 as they’re 1-11 in Houston over the past 12 games.

• Yahuza Rasas has nine double-doubles on the season for the Tigers and averages 9.5 rebounds in SWAC play. TSU’s Eden Ewing is averaging 10.5 points and 5.0 rebounds since the start of SWAC play.

• TSU takes the term “home, sweet home” to heart as the Tigers are 100-23 inside the H&PE Arena since 2008. TSU has won nine-plus games at home every year since the 2010-11 season.

• TSU was picked second in the Southwestern Athletic Conference preseason poll as senior forward Eden Ewing was named to the All-SWAC Preseason First Team. Ewing was granted a sixth year of eligibility in the summer.
