Tigers hit four home runs in 10-4 win over Prairie View A&M

HOUSTON – The Tigers of Texas Southern University hit four home runs Friday en route to 10-4 win at home over Prairie View A&M.

Keanu Van Kuren’s solo home run in the bottom of the fifth inning broke a 4-4 tie and proved to be the game-winning RBI, one of three RBIs he knocked in the game.

Christian Sanchez and Oscar Ponce also knocked solo home runs in the game, while Charles Robinson hit a 3-run home run – the first of his collegiate career – in the bottom of the eighth inning.

The run support was more than enough for pitcher Alex Olguin, who tossed a complete for the Tigers. He struck out four batters while walking only three batters.

Van Kuren and Olajide Oloruntimilehin knocked two base hits in the game. Tyson Thompson picked up a two-RBI in the bottom of the second inning.

Prairie View A&M opened the game by scoring two runs in the first inning. With one out and the bases loaded, TSU stanched the rally when a groundball to shortstop Parker DeLeon turned into a double play, when he relayed the ball to Van Kuren, who then got it to Sanchez to complete the play.

The Tigers and Panthers return to action Saturday, with first pitch scheduled for 2 p.m.
