Tigers Fall To Kansas In Series Finale

LAWRENCE, Kansas – TSU closed out its series with a back-and-forth contest as Kansas claimed a 16-5 win Wednesday afternoon.

The Jayhawks jumped out to a 6-0 lead after two innings but TSU regrouped and closed the gap to 6-4 entering the bottom of the third as CJ Castillo, Jeremy Gaines, Johnathon Thomas and Gabe Vasquez each had an RBI.

Kansas tacked on two more runs entering the fourth for an 8-4 lead but Gaines’ RBI in the fourth scored Justin Cooper as TSU trailed 8-5. However, Kansas would score eight unanswered over the next four innings to pull away.

Gaines remained hot at the plate as he finished 4-for-4 with two RBI. Kobe Head dropped the decision on the mound as he pitched three innings.
