Tigers Drop Critical SWAC Match To Jackson State

Texas Southern soccer ended their home doubleheader Sunday after falling 2-0 to Jackson State.

Sunday’s match started fast-paced with two shot attempts by sophomore Liz Alberto and freshman Alyssa Taylor within the first 10 minutes. JSU gained possession of the ball, scoring their first goal in the 14th minute.

Taylor added two additional shot attempts before junior Victoria Pucci added two of her own. JSU posted their second and final goal in the 44th minute of the first half.

Pucci opened the second half with two shot attempts and a corner kick. Junior Ashley Arnes had a shot attempt in the 62nd minute while Taylor posted her attempts moments later. Senior Ayana Noel posted the final shot attempt for the Tigers in the 67th minute.

Texas Southern will hold Senior Day next Friday evening as they host Prairie View A&M inside Alexander Durley Stadium at 7 p.m. Friday’s match marks the final contest for seven seniors at TSU in Jaidyn Christophe, Joniyah (JJ) Binder, Evan Melton, Ashley Arnes, Steph Robles, Asia Sylvan, and Ari Mendez. The Tigers will be honored before kick-off during Friday’s match.
