Tigers Drop 3-0 Decision At McNeese State

LAKE CHARLES, La. – Texas Southern suffered a 3-0 loss at the hands of McNeese State during a non-conference match-up Tuesday night.

McNeese State opened set one with a 10-4 edge before reeling off three straight points to pull within 10-7. The Cowgirls would up their lead to 16-8 en route to closing out the set with a 25-14 decision.

Set two would see TSU go neck-and-neck with the Cowgirls as they pulled away for a 17-13 lead following Jada Hall’s block. However, McNeese State closed the gap with three service aces and a TSU attack error to tie the contest but TSU moved ahead once again after Nia Stone’s kill for an 18-17 advantage. Both teams would trade leads after the TSU score but McNeese State would pull away with a 6-0 run en route to a 25-19 win. The final set belonged to the Cowgirls from start-to-finish as they closed out the match with a 25-11 decision.

Breyanna York led the team with 12 assists while Nia Ford added a team-high six digs. Alexis Austin and Jada Hall both tied for the team lead with four kills.

TSU will have time off to regroup as its next contest isn’t until the UTRGV Invitational on Sept. 20-21 in Edinburg, Texas.
