Tigers Drop 2-0 Decision To Alabama A&M

HUNTSVILLE, Ala. – The Texas Southern soccer team concluded their weekend in Alabama with a 2-0 defeat against Alabama A&M on Sunday.

There was a significant difference on the offensive side in today’s match as the Tigers had 11 shots with five of them being on goal. Midfielders Carissa Reese, Ashley Arnes, Markayla Lewis, and Crisely Pavon each has a single shot attempt while Ari Mendez delivered three.

Forwards Mia Ontiveros, and J.J. Binder each posted shots, and Sammie Garcia had two attempts. On the defensive side, Oriana Palacios had one save while Alexis Espino posted two saves.

AAMU’s Jameela Barrett delivered the first goal in the 28th minute while Makayla Rushing posted their final goal in the 85th minute.

The Tigers gear up for the first pair of home matches of the season next weekend as they take on Grambling State on Friday and Arkansas-Pine Bluff on Sunday. Kickoff for Friday’s match will be at 7 p.m. while Sunday’s is at 1 p.m. Due to construction at Durley Stadium, the location for at least one or both matches may change.
