Tigers Close Out Series At Kansas State

MANHATTAN, Kan. – Kansas State broke open a tight game with a nine-run fourth to close out the series with win against Texas Southern Sunday afternoon.

The Wildcats hit a solo homer in the second to lead 1-0 but were held scoreless until the fourth as they led off with a double and walk before a three-run homer for a 4-0 margin. After giving up a double, TSU went to the bullpen but a walk, hit by pitch and another walk led to a run followed by a 2-RBI single.  After a wild pitch,  KSU hit its second homer of the contest to end the scoring at 10-0.

TSU got on the board in the fifth as Nic Garza doubled to open the inning and would eventually score on a sac bunt by Avery Chatman. However, that would be the only run as KSU closed out the game with six runs over the next two innings.

Tyrese Clayborne, Herbert Watts and Garza each had hits with Chatman having an RBI. Caleb DuBois took the loss after seeing action in three innings before giving way to AJ Winger, Jaiden Beck, Tyler Hansen and Kevin Garcia. Beck led all pitchers with two strikeouts.

TSU is back in action on Friday for its conference finale at Southern.
