Tigers Bounce Back With Decisive Win Over Mississippi Valley State

Texas Southern bounced back in a huge way as four players scored in double figures during an 82-45 win over Mississippi Valley State Tuesday night inside the H&PE Arena.

TSU led from start to finish as they quickly claimed a 9-2 lead before the first media timeout. MVSU would knock its deficit down to 9-5 right after but TSU moved to another level as they outscored MVSU 20-2 over the next nine minutes for a 29-7 lead with 6:26 remaining. During the run, TSU harassed MVSU defensively as the Delta Devils committed nine turnovers while TSU had little trouble offensively getting into the paint and scoring points. TSU’s lead would grow to as much as 37-11 with 2:50 remaining on the clock as they finished the half ahead 41-15. In the first half, TSU forced 17 turnovers while only committing three.

The Tigers kept up the intensity as they continued to build on their halftime lead. The Tigers eventually pushed their lead to as high as 39 late in the contest as every player who dressed received an opportunity to see significant action Tuesday night.

With the win, TSU has won eight straight over MVSU dating back to 1-23-17 and also has won 16 of the past 17 games. Since starting 0-2 start in SWAC play, TSU has won six of its last seven games.
