TSU (10-11) improved to 5-3 in Southwestern Athletic Conference play Saturday with an 83-59 win over Alabama State.
Alabama A&M (4-18, 3-5 SWAC) has yet to win a true road game this season in 12 tries. The Bulldogs’ one win away from home was a 67-59 win over Tulane in Atlantic City, N.J. A&M’s 81-65 loss at Prairie View A&M snapped a two-game winning streak.
Lots of shots
TSU also leads the SWAC in rebounding, getting to an average of 38.6 rebounds per contest. The Tigers also give up the most rebounds per game in the league, as opponents grab an average of 40.5 rebounds per contest against TSU.
Combs over double-digits …
Jeremy Combs has scored in double-figures in 12 of his last 13 games, and posted three double-doubles during that span. Over the last 13 games, Combs has averaged 17.4 points and 9.1 rebounds per contest.
… and ranked nationally in offensive rebounds
Combs’ prowess on the offensive glass is helping both his scoring and rebounding averages. He currently leads the SWAC and ranks 11th nationally with 3.55 offensive rebounds per game.
TSU vs. Alabama A&M
The Tigers have won their last 10 meetings with Alabama A&M, and 21 of their last 22 games against the Bulldogs dating back to 2009. The Bulldogs’ last win over TSU came on Feb. 1, 2014, when they defeated the Tigers 63-62 in Huntsville. Alabama A&M hasn’t defeated the Tigers in Houston since claiming a 73-58 road win on March 3, 2008.
