Texas Tech defeats TSU 75-55

LUBBOCK, Texas- The Texas Southern Lady Tigers basketball team dropped a 75-55 contest to Texas Tech Saturday afternoon at United Supermarkets Arena.

Marquia Turner led TSU with 18 points, going 5-of-7 from three-point range. Olivia Cunningham added 15 points. Niya Mitchell posted seven points, five rebounds, two blocks and two assists, but was limited to 22 minutes of action due to foul trouble.

Texas Southern led 18-15 after one but lost its handle on the game thanks to a big second quarter for the Red Raiders. TSU was outscored 22-7 in the period and faced a 37-25 deficit entering the break.

The Lady Tigers (4-7) were unable to recover from that point.

TSU was outrebounded 47-19 in the game. Texas Tech’s Brittany Brewer led with 21 points and 13 rebounds. Chrislyn Carr added 19 points, and Sydney Goodson scored 16 points.
