Texas Southern Men’s Cross Country Earns USTFCCCA All-Academic Team Honors

While the Texas Southern University men’s cross country team made history on the running trails this past fall, the team also blazed new paths in the classroom as it was named a 2019 NCAA Division I Men’s All-Academic Team by the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA).

In order to qualify for this prestigious honor, teams must have a cumulative GPA of 3.0 on a 4.0 scale, including the most recent grading period. Texas Southern posted a 3.28 cumulative team average as they were the only program in the Southwestern Athletic Conference to receive this honor. A total of 191 teams received All-Academic honors in NCAA Division I.

Under the direction of Clyde Duncan, Sr., the team won its first SWAC Championship since 1993 this past fall and participated in the NCAA South Central Regional for the first time in school history.
