SWAC Champs Return to Action in Georgia

STOCKBRIDGE, Georgia – The 2022 Women’s Golf SWAC Champions returns to action this week as they compete in the National Women’s Collegiate Golf Championship hosted by the Women’s in Golf Foundation. 

The Lady Tigers are still celebrating the program’s second ever conference title.  

“I am glad that our freshmen led our women’s team to a SWAC Championship,” Texas Southern University head golf coach, Dr. Gary Grandison said. 

Freshman Dili Sitanonth was the Women’s Golf Tournament Low-Medalist, SWAC Women’s Golf Freshman of the Year Low Medalist and earned All-SWAC First Team Honors after posting a total 230 (77-77-76). Freshman Kennedi Lee placed second following her 7-over final round with a 232 (76-77-79) total. 

Freshman Kennedi Lee, Graduate Rev Alcantara, and Junior Ashlie Hobbs also received All SWAC First Team Honors. Alcantara’s 6-over final round gave her a total 237 (81-78-78) along with Hobbs at 237 (77-76-84) to finish tied in 4th place. 

“The Women’s National Collegiate is an extremely important, first-class event that provides networking and enrichment opportunities for our Lady Tigers”, Dr. Grandison concluded. 

 The Lady Tigers will compete in the Business Professionals and Collegiate Players Scramble Monday followed by 36 holes of tournament play Tuesday and Wednesday. The first round begins Tuesday with an 8:00 am start time at Eagles Landing Country Club.
