Stoudemire Places 2nd, Gonzales 3rd In 2023 Season Debut

Freshman Turey Stoudemire finished second in the high jump while Jose Gonzalez placed third in the mile run as the TSU men’s track team had five top-five finishes at the Leonard Hilton Memorial on Friday.
 
Stoudemire had a solid collegiate debut as the freshman tied for the top mark (6-6.75) in the high jump but finished second as the leader cleared an earlier height in only one attempt. Caleb Davis also had a solid debut in the event as he tied for fourth in the high jump with a height of 6-4.75. Joshua Goslee finished sixth in the pole vault after a mark of 13-1.75 while Chadrick Williams logged a mark of 48-9.5 in the triple jump en route to a fourth-place finish. Hezekiah Freeman’s throw of 51-5 in the weight throw was good for fourth.
 
On the track, Gonzalez finished third with a run of 4:24.46 in the mile for TSU’s best outing on the track while Brandon Washington placed fifth in the 800 with a time of 1:56.13.
 
The team is back in action on Friday at the Red Raider Open in Lubbock, Texas.
