Softball Falls To Alabama State Wednesday Afternoon In Tourney Action
For the second straight day, both pitchers and defense took center stage as the game was scoreless until the top of the sixth as ASU reached base on a bunt single with one out. ASU’s Jazmine Dodd tripled home the first run of the game followed by an RBI single from Alex Massie for the 2-0 lead.
TSU had opportunities to make some noise but couldn’t capitalize with nine runners left on base in addition to missed opportunities to score in the third and seventh innings. In the third, TSU led the inning off with back-to-back hits but recorded three straight outs. Down to their final out in the seventh, the Lady Tigers had runners on first and second but a called strike ended the contest.
Pamela Richardson led TSU with three hits while Naomi Reyes (10-8) went the distance in the loss. TSU is back in action tomorrow morning at 9 a.m. against Alcorn State. The winner will face either Prairie View A&M or Jackson State at 4:30 p.m.
