Softball Falls At HCU In Midweek Contest

Late inning singles by Angel Morales and Lanay Carr was not enough offensive output as the Texas Southern University softball team was defeated by Houston Christian University 8-0 in five innings.

TSU (0-6) would see Carr improve her batting average to .300 (3-or-10) on the season when she laced a pitch from HCU’s Ronni Grofman to left center with one out in the top of the fifth.

One inning prior, Morales collected her first hit of the season when she sent Grofman’s two-out pitch back up the middle.

HCU (4-2) collected all the runs it would need in the first two innings collecting three runs in the first and another five in the second. The Huskies strung together 10 hits on the putting with nine coming off TSU starter Jazmine Gendorf, who went two innings giving up nine hits, eight runs with seven being earned and striking out two.

Lailah Bell had a strong performance in her relief outing going two shutout out innings giving up just one hit.
