Softball Drops Pair In Lake Charles
Idaho State 13 Texas Southern 0
A one-out error in the top of the first would give Idaho State a 1-0 lead that the Bengals would not relinquish the rest of the game as starting pitcher Anna Berger went 4.1 innings pitched with just one hit and four walk allowed to earn the win.
A six-run second inning would be all the insurance ISU needed in order to pull out its first victory of the season. While up 13-0 and needing to close out the game, ISU’s Berger issued a walk to TSU’s Jayda Carter before Jazmine Dodd ended the no-hit bid.
McNeese State 8 Texas Southern 0
Dodd and Mila Rodriguez opened the game for the Tigers with back-to-back, one-out singles in the top of the first.
An error in the bottom of the first inning would be all that McNeese State would need as the Cowgirls tacked on a single run in the third and three each in the fourth and fifth innings for the 8-0 victory.
Dodd would end up going 2-for-2 with a walk while Daryn Haslam, and Ja’Lynn Swiney collected the other hits for TSU.
TSU closes out tournament play tomorrow at 10 a.m. against Idaho State.
