Softball Closes Out Tourney Play Against Big 12 Pair

AUSTIN, Texas – TSU dropped its final two games of the Lone Star Invitational to a pair of Big 12 foes in Kansas and Texas.

KANSAS 10, TSU 0
Kansas scored all of its runs in the fourth and fifth inning as they won a 10-0 decision in the opener.

TSU starter Lailah Bell held Kansas in check for the first three innings as the contest was scoreless. With one out in the fourth, Kansas moved ahead 2-0 after three straight hits but TSU forced a flyout for the second out. However, a single, fielding error and a double led to two more runs as KU led 4-0.

KU scored twice in the fifth but TSU managed to get the second out down 6-0. However, Kansas hit a grand slam to trigger the run-rule.

TEXAS 22, TSU 0
Texas posted a 10-run first inning and never looked back in a 22-0 decision in the tourney finale.

UT crossed home 10 runs to open the bottom of the first behind the strength of two home runs. They would add eight in the third and fourth in the fourth. TSU had a runner in scoring position in the third but couldn’t capitalize with consecutive strikeouts.

UP NEXT
TSU has its 2023 home opener on Thursday afternoon against the University of St. Thomas at 2 p.m. at Memorial Park.
