Soccer Splits On The Road

GRAMBLING, La. – The Texas Southern soccer team had to settle for a road split as they fell 3-0 against Grambling State on Sunday.

Grambling State obtained an early lead after scoring a goal within the first minute of the game but TSU had a chance to tie it up but missed a penalty kick in the sixth minute. Despite the early setback, TSU remained in the contest thanks to solid play from goalie Orianna Palacios with four saves over the next 16 minutes. However, GSU snuck a goal in the 22nd minute for a 2-0 lead which stood at the half. GSU added another goal in the 50th minute which ultimately was the final score.

Crisley Pavon led the team with three shot attempts and one on target while teammate, Mia Ontiveros had one shot attempt and one on target. Palacios had 11 saves over the duration of the game.

The Lady Tigers are back in action Friday in a SWAC game against Mississippi Valley State in Itta Bena, Miss. The match is set to begin at 12 p.m.
