Men’s Track & Field Continues To Rise Up The Charts After Action-Packed Weekend

TSU men’s track & field had a busy weekend with student-athletes participating in three meets.
 
Adedeji Adeyeye placed second in the high jump at the Victor Lopez Relays as he surpassed the 6-8 mark before returning back to track and earning a third-place finish at the Prairie View Relays with a jump of 6-6. Kenneth Pree continued his dominant season in the long jump as he won the Victor Lopez Relays at Rice University with a mark of 24-4.5.
 
Hillary Maiyo ran the second-fastest time in the SWAC as he finished the 1,500-meter run in a time of 15:44.16 also at Rice.
 
At Prairie View A&M in the PV Relays, Javan Martin walked away with the 100-meter title in a time of 10.4 which is a personal best and the SWAC’s second-best time.
 
Tyrell Simms placed fourth and ran a personal best time of 48.51 in the 400 while Malachi Byrd finished third in a personal best time of 15.10 in the 110-meter hurdles. The 4×100-meter relay of Karon Bain, Jaylon Garrett, Kenneth White and Martin placed fourth (41.73).
 
Ian Charles finished fifth in the pole vault (12-11.75) while Donyae Castaneda placed fifth in the triple jump after a mark of 45-4.25.
 
TSU also sent a squad to the Texas Relays as the distance medley team of Brian Martinez, Eric Prier, Brandon Washington and Jose Gonzalez ran a time of 10:18.98.
 
The team is back in action at Baylor on Friday and Saturday.
