Men’s Golf Finishes 2nd At Gulf Shores Invitational
GULF SHORES, Ala. – Texas Southern’s men’s golf finished second at the Gulf Shores Invitational held at the Peninsula Golf Club on Oct. 20-21.
The Tigers opened the first day of competition with a team total of 307 to sit in third but shaved off six strokes in the second round as they tied for the second-highest score (301) of the afternoon. During the final round, Lucas Elliot tied for the second-lowest round of the day (72) which was enough to move the Tigers past Arkansas-Pine Bluff for the second-place finish.
As a team, TSU shot 49-over par 913 as the finished ahead of third-place UAPB by one stroke. Elliott placed sixth overall with a three-day total of 219 (+10) as he posted scores of 77, 77 and 72, respectively. Devansh Chadha finished tied for ninth with a low round of 75 (+14) while Landon Johnstone (+14) and Chris Williams (+14) also tied for ninth. Grant Everson (+19) and Tanner Skiles (+20) rounded out the Tigers on the leaderboard.
The Tigers are done for the semester as they’ll return to action in January at the BCGCA Invitational in Davenport, Fla.
