Men’s Cross Country Wins Heat At Chile Pepper Cross Country Festival

FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. – Texas Southern’s men’s cross country won its first title of the season as they won the second heat of the Chili Pepper Cross Country Festival.

The Flying Tigers competed against a strong field as there were 39 universities and colleges for a total of 346 total runners. With a strong team performance, the Tigers came out on top aided by three runners placing in the top 30. Efrain Lira led the way with a time of 26:17.7 as he placed 19th overall followed by Cosmas Keter (26:27 / 24th), Jose Gonzalez (26:35 / 27th) and Allen Gonzalez (26:38 / 31st). Dan Lerma (26:46), Brian Martinez (27:09), Cristian Sanchez (27:25) and Hillary Maiyo 27:55 rounded out the pack.

The Flying T’s next competition is on Oct. 21 at the 2019 SWAC Championships in Clinton, Miss.
