Lady Tigers drop non-conference game to Stephen F. Austin

HOUSTON – The Lady Tigers of Texas Southern University saw their three-game winning streak snapped Wednesday as they fell at home 10-1 to Stephen F. Austin.
 
Zariah Robins knocked home TSU’s lone run in the bottom of the fourth inning with a bases-loaded, RBI single that scores Ashling Shahan. A mid-game replacement, Robins knocked two base hits in the contest.
 
Starting pitcher Chelsea Baxter took the loss in the circle for TSU, and fell to 2-3 for the season. Destiny Ricks pitched two and two-thirds scoreless innings of relief for the Lady Tigers, striking out three batters.
 
Ebony Wiltz went 2-for-2 at the plate for the Lady Tigers. Sierra Cothern and Aubri Ford delivered base hits in pinch-hit appearances for Texas Southern.
 
The visiting Ladyjacks (24-16) jumped out to a five-run lead after one inning play; they later added three more in the top of the second inning to take control of the contest.
 
The Lady Tigers return to action Tuesday when they visit Houston–Victoria for a non-conference doubleheader. First pitch is scheduled for 2 p.m.
