Lady Tigers compete at SWAC Bowling Tournament

ARLINGTON, Texas – The Lady Tigers of Texas Southern University concluded their regular season at the Southwestern Athletic Conference’s Bowling Tournament this weekend.
 
The defending 2018 champions, Texas Southern advanced to the second day of the three-day tournament.
 
Day one of the event saw the Lady Tigers earn the No. 5 seed into the second day’s head-to-head matchups. Summer Salak led all TSU bowlers on the first day with sum total of 897, which averaged out to 179.4 per game over five games. Salak rolled a 200-game in her fourth game, and finished day one with the eighth-highest individual score.
 
Jessyca Driver had the next highest score for the Lady Tigers, as she recorded a cumulative score of 884, averaging 176.8 per game to finish with the 12th highest score of the day. Her top score came in the second game she rolled, tallying a final score of 192.
 
Samantha Kriner finished 17th individually, rounding out TSU’s finishers among the Top 20. Kriner’s first day total was 853, good for 170.6 average. She rolled back-to-back 180s in games three and four.
 
Brittany Torres (23rd) finished with an average of 168.2, totaling 841 over five games. Shania Carr (31st) tallied a total of 754, averaging 150.8 per game.
 
On the second day of competition, Alabama State and Texas Southern needed a roll-off to decide their opening round match, as both sides were tied after seven games thanks to a tie in game one. Ultimately, Alabama State prevailed in the tie-breaker to advance to the next round (166-166, 147-169, 207-183, 200-166, 150-189, 206-183, 168-185, 94-77).
 
Prior to the start of the three-day event, TSU’s Carr was named to the All-SWAC Bowling Second Team.
