Kansas delivers 7-1 setback to TSU on the baseball diamond

MELISSA, Texas – The Tigers of Texas Southern University fought hard but came up short in a 7-1 loss to Kansas on Friday.
 
Aron Solis started and tossed five innings for the Tigers, giving up five earned runs and scattering seven hits. He struck out nine Jayhawks during the game.
 
Levi Dixon drove in the Tigers’ lone run in the top of the fifth inning with an RBI single to the pitcher’s mound. Keanu Van Kuren scored from third base to cut KU’s lead to 5-1 at the time.
 
Van Kuren had two hits in the game for the Tigers (0-5). Olajide Oloruntimilehin knocked a double for the Tigers in the top of the ninth inning.
 
KU’s Blake Goldsberry picked up the win in relief for the Jayhawks.
 
The Jayhawks and Tigers return to action Saturday.
