Golf Teams Conclude Historic Season at PGA Works Collegiate Championship

PHILADELPHIA, Pa. - The Texas Southern University men’s and women’s golf teams concluded their run at the 2022 PGA Works Collegiate Championship Wednesday.

The Lady Tigers finished in sixth place overall. Graduate Rev Alcantara was the top scorer for the ladies as she moved up two spots with her T10 individual finish thanks to her 239 (82-78-79). The 2022 PGA Works Collegiate Championship also marks Alcantara’s final tournament in her collegiate career. She aspires to join the Ladies Philippine Golf Tour. Freshman Miness Siame also posted a 7-over 79 in her final round.

”Outside of our first round, our ladies were fairly competitive,” Texas Southern University head golf coach, Dr. Gary Grandison said.

The men’s team showed true Tiger spirit as they fought back in their final round. Graduating senior Landon Johnstone posted the team’s round three low round with his even-par 72 finish. Johnstone posted a total of 233 (74-87-72) to finish T32. He plans to attend graduate school in the fall.
