De La Fuente, Willis Has Strong Outings To Open SWAC East Round-Up

D’IBERVILLE, Miss. – Sophomore Cassie De La Fuente and freshman Jazmyn Willis both had monster days on the lanes as the TSU bowling team closed out the first day of the SWAC East Round-up.
 
De La Fuente averaged a 223.6 in five matches on Friday as she bowled four 200-plus games en route to a 1,118 series. She opened the day with a 219 in the first match before another strong match with a 247. She posted a 214 in match three before setting a high score of 259 in the fourth match.
 
Willis, who recorded a series score of 1,069, opened with a 202 followed by a 268 in match two. She rolled a 206 in the third match before closing out with scores of 186 and 207 in matches four and five to finish with an average of 213.8.
 
As a team, TSU finished with a 2-3 mark as they dropped its opener to Alabama State before rebounding to beat Southern. TSU fell to Florida A&M in match three and defeated Grambling State in the fourth match. TSU closed out the day with a tough loss to Prairie View A&M.
 
TSU is currently in fourth place in the SWAC after 19 matches (10-9). The round-up still has two additional days so the Tigers have plenty of opportunities to move up the standings.
