De La Fuente Leads Bowling Team In 2022 Season Opener

PENSACOLA, Fla. – Cassie De La Fuente finished in the top 10 as the TSU bowling team opened the 2022 season at the Rattler Classic this past weekend.
 
The Tigers opened Baker Match play with a loss to Jackson State but rebounded with consecutive wins over Grambling State and Florida A&M. They couldn’t keep the momentum after falling to Emmanuel College and Southern in the final two matches.
 
TSU finished the first set of traditional matches with 1-4 mark as they defeated Alabama State but fell to Tulane, Florida A&M, Emmanuel College and Southern. Shyanne Ciesiolka had the highest single game score for TSU in the traditional round with a 253 against Alabama State.
 
TSU opened bracket play on Sunday with a 4-0 win over Grambling State but drooped a hard-fought match to Florida A&M 4-1. TSU closed out the tournament with a wire-to-wire showdown against Grambling State as they edged them out in a tiebreaker.
 
Cassie De La Fuente was TSU’s top bowler and eighth overall as she finished with a 197 average over five matches while Ciesiolka was next with a 173 followed by Evan Smith (165.4).
 
TSU is back in action on Friday at the Colonial Lanes Classic in Harahan, La.
