Cross Country Competes At Rice Invitational

HOUSTON – Both TSU cross country teams participated at the Rice Invitational on Friday evening.
 
Jose Gonzalez finished 14th overall as the TSU men’s cross country team opened the 2021 season at the Rice Invitational Friday evening.
 
Gonzalez ran the 6k course in a time of 19:36.9 as this marked his first career 6k run. Hillary Maiyo finished second on the team followed by Brandon Washington, Luis Delreal, Brian Martinez and Cristian Sanchez.
 
Briana Creeks led TSU on the women’s side as she ran a time of 16:02.6 on the 4K course as she led TSU for the second consecutive meet.
 
Mikayla Koester, Miriam Darden, Latevia Adderley, Shelby Brooks, Ashlonia John, Lillie Burnett and Rashel Bonds rounded out the performers for TSU.

The men’s team is back in action at Texas A&M on Sept. 25 while the women’s team is at McNeese State on Sept. 25.
