Combs named SWAC’s Player of the Week

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – Texas Southern University forward Jeremy Combs has been named the Southwestern Athletic Conference Men’s Basketball Player of the Week after helping lead the Tigers to victories over Alabama State and Alabama A&M. The league made the announcement Tuesday afternoon. 

Combs posted weekly averages of 19 points and 8.5 rebounds per game as Texas Southern earned double-digit wins over the Hornets and Bulldogs. The Dallas, Texas native was particularly impressive against Alabama State, scoring 29 points on 12-of-18 shooting along with 11 rebounds in an 83-59 victory. 

Combs is third in the league in points (14.6) and rebounds (8.1) per game and is shooting 58.1 percent from the field, a mark that is second-best in the conference. He currently ranks eighth nationally in offensive rebounds, grabbing 3.65 offensive boards per contest.
