Chadha Fires A 66 In Final Round At Panther Relays Spring Collegiate Invitational

CYPRESS, Texas – The Texas Southern University men’s golf team concluded their second and third rounds of play Tuesday afternoon in the Panther Relays Spring Collegiate Invitational hosted by Prairie View A&M.

There were various weather disturbances throughout day one beginning with a fog delay that pushed back teeing off and then torrential rains during the second round halted play which resulted in play being suspended due to darkness on Monday. This resulted in an earlier tee off Tuesday morning to play out the remaining holes of round two and going straight into their final round of play thereafter.

The Tigers finished in fifth place after completing the final round. Redshirt sophomore, Devansh Chadha lead the way for the Tigers after firing a 6-under-par 66 in his final round to finish 6-under for the tournament with a score total of 210 (72-72-66). Teammate, Landon Johnstone carded a 226 (77-72-77).

“I am pleased with our program’s improvement this week,” Texas Southern University head golf coach, Dr. Gary Grandison said. “Each TSU golfer showed flashes of their potential, and as a team, it was one of the better performances in years.  We must continue to develop as a program.”

TSU continues with its spring season this weekend at The Big Texan Invitational in Kerrville, Texas, and will be playing at Comanche Trace Golf Club.
