Burnett, Perkins Lead Way At 44 Farms Team Invitational At Texas A&M

COLLEGE STATION, Texas – The TSU women’s track & field team had a strong showing against a solid field at the 44 Farms Team Invitational at Texas A&M.
 
Lillie Burnett ran the SWAC’s fourth-best time as she finished 11th overall in the 100. Burnett also moved up to fifth in the SWAC as she ran a personal best 24.42 in the 200. Briana Creeks finished sixth overall with a run of 2:17.08 in the 800 while Kayla Jenkins had a strong weekend as she posted the fourth-best time in the SWAC in the 100-meter hurdles after placing eighth. The 4×100-meter relay placed fifth (47.03) while the mile relay finished third with a time of 3:48.81.
 
Phylan Perkins created significant distance between her closest competitor in the SWAC as she finished second with a personal-best throw of 175-10 in the hammer. Skyla Faux threw a personal best 122-10 to place eighth in the discus while Jalecia Smith placed eighth (100-11) in the javelin.
 
TSU is back in action in two weeks at the Rice University J. Fred Duckett Twilight on April 23.
