Bowling Completes SWAC Regular Season Play

D’IBERVILLE, Miss. – Cassie De La Fuente’s ninth-place finish with a 2,549-pin total over 14 games led the way for the Texas Southern University bowling team to finish the SWAC Regular Season in fourth-place at the Cypress Lanes in D’Iberville, Miss.

De La Fuente finished in ninth place overall and her teammates also had several strong games throughout the event as the Tigers have just two more events before the postseason play begins in the SWAC tournament on Friday, March 24. TSU finished the weekend with an overall record of 5-9 during the three-day event and a 16-12 SWAC mark.

Despite winning just five of the 14 matches on the weekend, TSU played a deciding factor in Alabama State and Southern finishing with identical 10-4 records as the Tigers won both games against ASU and split with Southern.

The Tigers were also able to get some action in during close matches including an 884-882 win over Alabama State in the event’s seventh round of play.

Individually, Evan Smith (2,504 pins, 14 rounds), Payton Trevino (1,838 pins, 11 rounds), Shyanne Ciesiolka (1,793 pins, 11 rounds), Brianna Bogues (1,114 pins, seven rounds), Leya Parker (1,065 pins, seven rounds), Jennifer Hoang (626 pins, four rounds) and Tahirah Turner (245 pins, two Rounds) rounded out the team that made the trip this weekend.
