Bowling Completes First Tournament Of 2019

HARAHAN, La. – The TSU bowling team opened the season at the All State Sugar Bowl Collegiate Invitational this past weekend at Colonial Lanes in Harahan, La.

TSU opened the first day of action with a 2-3 mark in Baker play with wins against Louisiana Tech (979-976) and Tulane (871-835) while falling to North Carolina A&T State, Maryland Eastern Shore and Sam Houston State.

In traditional match play on day two, TSU claimed a win over Tulane (871-835) while falling to Vanderbilt, Alabama State, UAB and Stephen F. Austin. In the match against SFA, the Tigers had an impressive outing against the defending national champion as they fell by three pins (905-902).

During Sunday’s bracket play, TSU fell to Tusculum (1,038-1,010) and Southern (1,031-999) before closing out the tournament with a win against Grambling State (927-807).

Samantha Kriner was the top bowler this past weekend for the Tigers as she finished 23rd overall with an average of 190.2 and a high game of 226. Summer Salak finished 26th with an average of 186.4 as she bowled a high of 221. Taylor Krings averaged a 178.4 with a high of 222 followed by Jessyca Driver (175.5), Chelsey Keener (173) and Leanna Martinez (153.5).

The team is back in action Nov. 1-3 at the annual TRACK Kat Klash hosted by Sam Houston State at Emerald Bowl in Houston.
