TSUSports.com: Women’s Golf Concludes Efforts At UTRGV, Hobbs Posts Career Low

McALLEN, Texas – The Texas Southern women’s golf team showed great progression this week with a 914 (308-303-303) to place 10th at the Vaquero Invitational hosted by The University of Texas Rio Grande Tuesday. The tournament was held at McAllen Country Club.

Senior Ashlie Hobbs was the top-scoring Tiger as she finished tied for fifth individually with her career-low performance of an even-par 213 (76-68-69). Hobbs posted a 2-under-par 69 final round, narrowly missing her personal best score of 68 from yesterday’s second round which included four birdies, 13 pars, and a single bogey. Freshman Shawnise Gregory played consistently through the tournament with a 232 (77-77-78) total. Junior Alexa Gonzalez finished one stroke back on 233 (71-80-72) after carding a fired-up one-over-par final round. Teammate Miness Siame recorded a 242 (78-78-86) while freshman Phaith Harris finished four strokes back on 246 that included a 6-over 77 opening round.

The Tigers return to action March 18-19 as they will compete in the Hornet PR Invitational hosted by Alabama State in Puerto Rico.
