BIRMINGHAM, Ala. - Texas Southern infielder Madilynn Marek and pitcher Jasmin Fulmore were recognized by the Southwestern Athletic Conference as Softball Players of the Week thanks to their standout efforts during games played from April 4-9.
Hitter of the Week
Madilynn Marek

Marek hit .615 and slugged .923 over the course of Texas Southern's five games during the Lady Tigers' 3-2 week. She appeared in four of TSU's five games during the week (all starts at third base), with the Lady Tigers going 3-1 in those games. Marek went 8-for-13 with four doubles and six RBIs during the week, and had a .688 on-base percentage.

She went 3-for-4 with three doubles and three RBIs during TSU's 4-1 win at Arkansas-Pine Bluff on Saturday. The freshman raised her team-leading batting average from .333 to .408 over the course of the past week.

Jasmin Fulmore

Fulmore picked up two of Texas Southern's three wins during the Lady Tigers' 3-2 week. In the two games Fulmore started, she gave up no earned runs, scattered eight hits and struck out 19 batters. She struck out 12 batters over six innings in a winning six-inning effort against Houston-Victoria on Tuesday. Fulmore followed that with a complete-game, three-hit shutout at Arkansas-Pine Bluff.

For the week, Fulmore was 2-0 in three appearances, with a 2.19 ERA over 16 innings pitched. She has not allowed an earned run over her last four starts, a string of 23 consecutive innings. Fulmore is 6-2 with an ERA of 1.82 this season.
