TSUSports.com: TSU Department of Athletics Officially Accepts SWAC Academic Success Award

The Texas Southern University Department of Athletics officially accepted the 2021-22 Southwestern Athletic Conference Academic Success Award on the eve of the 2022 SWAC Volleyball Tournament during the pre-tournament reception inside the Science Building Foyer Thursday evening.

The SWAC Academic Success Award is an award decided based upon each member institutions collective ranking in the categories of highest four-year Academic Progress Rate (APR) average, highest single year APR average, and highest Graduate Success Rate (GSR). TSU finished nearly four points ahead of its next competitor with a total of 26 points based upon the point scale system used to determine an institutional winner.

Texas Southern University President Dr. Lesia L. Crumpton-Young, Vice President of Intercollegiate Athletics Dr. Kevin Granger, Assistant AD for Academic Enhancement Kimberly Evans, Evans’ staff and TSU student-athletes were on hand to accept the award from SWAC Associate Commissioner for Internal Operations/SWA Adeanah Pooler.

“I want to thank our Academic Enhancement and Compliance Departments for their hard work in helping TSU achieve this feat as this is truly a team effort,” said Vice President of Intercollegiate Athletics Dr. Kevin Granger. “I would also like to congratulate our student-athletes for their commitment and focus in the classroom as they understand the true meaning of student-athlete.”
