TSU's Turner named SWAC Player of the Week
BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – Texas Southern University guard Marquia Turner has been named the Southwestern Athletic Conference Women's Basketball Player of the Week. The league made the announcement Tuesday morning.

Turner, a 5-8 graduate transfer senior from Canton, Ohio, scored 26 points in leading the Lady Tigers to a 69-55 victory over Texas-Rio Grande Valley in the team's lone contest of the week. The 26 points represented a career-best for Turner, and her five made three-pointers tied a season-best.
One of the league's top shooters so far this season, Turner has connected on 49 percent of her three-point attempts on the season, a mark that's tops in the SWAC. She also leads the league in made three-pointers (25) and is averaging 14.4 points per game, a figure that ranks her second in the conference.

This is the second week in a row that a TSU student-athletes has earned SWAC Women's Basketball Player of the Week honors.
