ITTA BENA, MS. – Texas Southern got back into the winners column on Saturday with a thrilling 72-71 win on the road at Mississippi Valley State.

The visiting Tigers rallied late with a 10-1 run in the final 2:58 of the game to close out the contest as Derrick Bruce made the winning basket on a 3-pointer with five seconds remaining at the Harrison HPER Complex on Saturday night.

Texas Southern was led by the trio of Demontrae Jefferson (22 points), Donte Clark (18 points) and Bruce (17 points and 12 rebounds).

MVSU received 24 points, seven rebounds and three assists from Dante Scott.

The win improved TSU to 8-5 in league play overall with a total of five SWAC contest still remaining for the 2018 campaign.

Texas Southern will travel to face Arkansas-Pine Bluff on Monday as they look to avoid a season sweep at the hands of the Golden Lions.
