Grambling State pulled away in the fourth quarter as they handed TSU a 68-47 loss Saturday evening at home.
Grambling State opened with an early lead but TSU fought back in the second quarter and finally regained a 23-21 lead with 1:59 remaining after Namiko Adams' layup. However, Grambling State closed the half on a 7-3 run for a 28-24 halftime lead.
TSU would play catchup for most of the third quarter and had moments to move ahead but failed to get over the hump. TSU trailed 34-31 with 6:08 left but Grambling State eventually pushed its lead up and ended the third quarter up 45-38. GSU opened the fourth quarter with a three-pointer and TSU answered with a basket from Ryann Lewis to close within eight. Unfortunately, that would be the closest TSU would get as GSU went on a late run to push its lead to double digits.
Adams led TSU with 11 points and nine rebounds while Quatera Limbrick added 10.
TSU is back in action Monday against Jackson State at 5:30 p.m.
