HUNTSVILLE, Ala. – The Lady Tigers of Texas Southern University maintained their place atop the Southwestern Athletic Conference table with a 1-0 win Sunday at Alabama A&M.

Alisa Holloway scored her second goal of the season in the 80th minute to help the Lady Tigers complete a sweep of their Alabama road trip. They began the trip with a 1-0 win at Alabama State on Friday.

With the win, Texas Southern (4-4-2) improved its SWAC record to 3-0-1 and remained one point ahead of Grambling State, who have three wins in as many conference matches. The Lady Tigers host Grambling at TSU's Durley Stadium on Friday at 7 p.m.

Freshman goalkeeper Tammy Syron stopped three shots on goal to post her third shutout in four conference matches. The TSU defense helped the cause by allowing only six total shots.

Alabama A&M (0-11) fell to 0-4 in SWAC play. The Lady Bulldogs' winless record obscures the fact that they have played close contests against tough opponents in both SWAC and non-conference play.

The Lady Bulldogs missed a chance to take a lead moments before Holloway's strike when Daijah DeRamus maneuvered through the TSU defense and goalkeeper Syron in the 78th minute, only to see her shot go wide of the open goal.

The Lady Tigers return home for their next four matches, starting with a key contest against Grambling on Friday in a battle of the SWAC's top two teams. TSU's following match against Arkansas–Pine Bluff next Sunday will be aired on the SWAC Digital Network. That match is scheduled for 1 p.m.
