Texas Southern (5-4) at New Orleans (3-7)

NEW ORLEANS, La. – The Lady Tigers of Texas Southern University play their final game before the Christmas holiday Thursday when they visit the New Orleans Privateers. Tipoff is scheduled for 7 p.m. at UNO's Lakefront Arena.
The Lady Tigers (5-4) will put their four-game winning streak on the line when they visit the Privateers. TSU is currently the only team in the Southwestern Athletic Conference with a winning record.

The national spotlight has been on the TSU women's basketball program this week since junior Joyce Kennerson took over the lead as the nation's top scorer. Kennerson is averaging 26.6 points per contest, and shooting 53 percent (70 of 132) from the floor.

The Series
Thursday's game will be only the fourth matchup between the Lady Tigers and Privateers. New Orleans claimed a 63-57 win last season on its home court (Nov. 30, 2016).

Last season's contest marked the first time in 15 seasons the teams had faced each other, with TSU and New Orleans splitting a two-year, home-and-home series during non-conference play during the 2000-01 and 2001-02 seasons. The Privateers won 88-64 in New Orleans in the first-ever meeting between the two teams, with TSU claiming a 56-52 win in Houston the following year (Nov. 27, 2001).

A Win Would …
… Give the Lady Tigers three wins over Southland Conference opponents for the first time this century.
… Stretch their winning streak over non-SWAC opponents to five games, TSU's longest such streak since the 1981-82 season.

About the Privateers
New Orleans enters Thursday's contest with a record of 3-7, having won their past two games over NAIA opponent Xavier (La.), and Louisiana–Monroe. Senior guard Randi Brown leads the Privateers with a scoring average of 21.7 points per game. Brown is the only UNO player averaging in double figures.
