HOUSTON – The Lady Tigers of Texas Southern University remained undefeated in Southwestern Athletic Conference play Friday after sweeping a doubleheader from Grambling State.

Texas Southern shutout Grambling State in both games, winning 11-0 and 12-0.

The Lady Tigers (11-21) remained in first place in the SWAC's West Division with a 9-0 conference record. The two teams conclude their series Saturday, with first pitch scheduled for noon.

GAME ONE: TSU 11, Grambling State 0
Texas Southern scored six runs in the bottom of the second inning and added four more in the fourth inning as the hosts needed only five innings to claim the first game of the doubleheader.

Julia Bilbao and Tevanae Tate both went 2-for-2 with three RBIs apiece to lead TSU in the opener. Tate knocked a two-run home run to cap the scoring in the second inning. Bilbao had a two-RBI single in the second inning, while Haley Castro opened the scoring in the inning with a two-RBI double.

Bilbao added an RBI triple to centerfield in the fourth inning, which was then followed by Tate knocking an RBI double. Marissa Padron added a two-RBI single in the inning.

Lauryn Banks hit a solo home run in the bottom of the third inning.

In the circle, Naomi Reyes tossed five shutout innings while allowing only three hits. She struck out six batters and didn't issue any walks.

GAME TWO: TSU 12, Grambling State
TSU wasted no time taking control of the game as the host Lady Tigers scored four runs in the bottom of the first inning. Banks knocked a two-RBI single after Madi Marek opened the scoring with an RBI single of her own.

Paige Jackson helped put the game out of reach in the third inning with a pinch-hit grand slam. Her grand slam was part of a seven-run inning.

Destiny Ricks pitched four shutout innings while scattering three hits and striking out one batter. Bailey Daniels pitched a 1-2-3 fifth inning of relief.
