BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – Texas Southern's sophomore guard Joyce Kennerson has been named the Southwestern Athletic Conference Women's Basketball Player of the Week for her performance over the eighth week of the regular season.
Kennerson netted 24 points along with grabbing three boards in the Lady Tigers' 57-53 win in the team's SWAC opener Monday at Alcorn State. The honor was the third this season for a Lady Tiger, as teammate Artavia Ford won her second Player of the Week last week.
The 24 points scored by Kennerson marked a season high and was one point shy of her collegiate best. She ranks seventh in the SWAC in scoring, averaging 13.7 points per contest.
The Lady Tigers visit Southern on Wednesday.
