BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – Texas Southern University soccer players Paige Hayward and Brianna took two of the three Player of the Week honors awarded by the Southwestern Athletic Conference on Wednesday.

Hayward, a senior from New South Wales, Australia, was named the SWAC's Offensive Player of the Week, while Norwood, a junior from San Antonio, Texas, was named the league's Defensive Player of the Week after combining for three goals and two assists in the Lady Tigers' 5-0 win over Concordia (Texas).

Hayward netted a hat trick to lead the Lady Tigers to the victory. She scored two goals and tallied an assist in the first half, then completed her hat trick with a penalty kick five minutes after the restart. Hayward climbed into third place on TSU's all-time goal-scoring list with 19 career goals; she needs just six more this season to become the school's all-time leading goal scorer.

Norwood tallied an assist and played 74 minutes in the win over the Tornados. The Lady Tigers' strongest player on throw-ins, Norwood threw a perfect pass to Kelly Sanders in the penalty area, where the freshman promptly scored in the 45th minute of Thursday's contest. Norwood also anchored the TSU defensive line that held Concordia to only two shots (one on goal) as the Lady Tigers outshot their opponents 20-2.

Grambling State's Jordan Woodward was named the Goalkeeper of the Week by the SWAC.

The Lady Tigers return to action Thursday, Sept. 7, when they host Lamar. Kickoff is scheduled for 7 p.m. at TSU's Alexander Durley Stadium.
