Senior outside hitter Thalia Cordero Moreno was named to the 2022 All-SWAC Volleyball Preseason First Team.
The senior from Carolina, Puerto Rice/Pearland, Texas had a solid 2021 regular season for TSU as she started 30 of 31 matches and led the team offensively with 269 points. She registered 244 kills (2.39 k/s) and had seven games with double-digit kills as her season high was 20 against Niagara. Cordero Moreno was also solid with serving as she logged 19 aces.
Defensively, Cordero Moreno was just as good as she ranked second on the team with 261 digs (2.56 d/s). She posted 13 games with double-digit digs with a high of 18 (twice) against Southern (8/27 & 9/27). Cordero Moreno also earned All-Tournament honors at Arizona Wildcat Classic and 2021 all-conference honors.
TSU will break camp tomorrow with its annual Maroon & Gray Scrimmage inside the TSU Student Recreation Center at 2 p.m. Admission is free as there will be raffles for TSU paraphernalia.
