BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – Texas Southern University's Alexis Austin was among the four volleyball players to earn Player of the Week honors from the Southwestern Athletic Conference this week.

A sophomore from Fort Worth, Texas, Austin was named the Offensive Player of the Week after tallying 30 kills and hit .279 as the Lady Tigers split their SWAC West Division road trip to Louisiana this week.

Austin knocked down 15 kills apiece in matches at Southern and Grambling State. Against Southern, Austin put away 15 kills and .323 while recording seven digs. The next night at Grambling, she hit .243 with 15 kills on 37 attempts while also tallying six digs; Austin also had three kills to lead TSU back from 24-22 deficit to take a 26-24 decision in set three.

Austin has reached double-figures in kills in eight of her last 10 matches. In SWAC play, she has knocked down 93 kills (3.72 kills per set) and accumulated a .279 hitting percentage.

The Lady Tigers (6-8) are currently in second place in the SWAC's West Division with a league record of 4-3. The Lady Tigers visit Prairie View A&M on Thursday, with first serve scheduled for 6:30 p.m.
