Dear Season Ticket Holders,

Because of your support, TSU Athletics was able to make history this year!!!! On the 40th Anniversary of our 1977 NAIA National Basketball Championship, history was made again. As you know, our men's and women's basketball teams were regular season (co-champs for the women) and SWAC Basketball Tournament Champions this year. In addition, history was made when the horn sounded and the TSU Lady Tigers won their first-ever SWAC Tournament title and earned their first trip to the NCAA Basketball Championship.

Sixty-five years ago we made an immeasurable athletic historical statement. In 1952, we won the Midwest Conference/Midwestern Athletic Conference (MWC) Championships in Basketball and Football (Black College National Championship defeating Prairie View, 13-12). As we celebrate our history, remember Texas Southern University's basketball program was the first HBCU to play for a desegregated national basketball championship in 1956 (NAIA) while winning five consecutive conference championships (1954 (MWC) and 1955, 1956, 1957 and 1958 (SWAC).

Under the direction of second-year head coach Michael Haywood, the Tiger football program recently had one of its best recruiting classes. The 2017 home football schedule will include the annual Labor Day Classic matchup against Prairie View A&M (Sept. 2) and the Battle of the Bayou Cats against Southern (Nov. 11)
Legendary coaches Alexander Durley, Edward "Ed" Adams and Robert Moreland laid a foundation. Let's continue to build upon our HISTORY and LEGACY. "Spread The Word!" Talk to neighbors, family members, fellow alumni, and friends (In fact tell the World!) as we get ready to start our season ticket campaign for the 2017-2018 season, continue building on our championship legacy and hanging banners in our gymnasium.

Our goal is to Double last year's season ticket purchase. To reach this goal, we need you (Excellence in Achievement!) to continue to support and reach out to people that you know. The Athletic Administration, Coaches, and Student Athletes are grateful beyond measure for your continued support of our programs.
